How to make a Rubik’s Cube flexible?

When you’re speedcubing, you obviously want to solve your cube as quickly as possible without it spinning stiffly or having hiccups. Every turn that goes awry in your rubik’s cube can cost you another few seconds. That, of course, is a shame! Therefore, it is important that your speedcube always remain smooth. But how do you make a rubik’s cube smooth? How exactly to go about it you will read below.

What is speedcubing?

Speedcubing is basically solving a rubik’s cube as fast as possible. This involves completing a color on each surface. There are several official championship categories in this. You have championships in it that you have to solve with a normal 3x3x3 cube so fast, but also that you have to do it with one hand or blindfolded.

Variations Rubiks Cube

Everyone knows the original rubik’s cube of 3x3x3 in which you must have one color on each side as quickly as possible. However, many different variations on this have emerged in recent times. For example, you have cubes in a pyramid shape or more like a circle, as well as cubes in which the squares are not square. You can think of a cube with precisely triangles or circles that you have to turn instead of squares. Thus, there are hundreds of different variations of a rubik’s cube that make it increasingly difficult to solve the Rubik’s Cube. Also with these cubes it is important to have a good and smooth mechanism.

What do you need for it?

To optimize the rubik’s cube, you need a lubricant. The lubricant allows the speedcube to run smoothly again and is less likely to suffer from wear. There are four different brands for this: Gan, GiYi, Moyu and Maru. You then apply the lubricant between all rubik’s stones. The key here is that you very carefully apply 1-2 drops in the center of the speed cube, then play with the cube for a moment so that it is well distributed everywhere and then leave it for a while. After a while, see if the speedcube is already moving smoothly. Should it still be a bit stiff, you can repeat this process. This is because it is important not to get too much oil into the speedcube! Greasing your Rubiks Cube annually will ensure that you can enjoy a smooth and manageable Rubiks Cube for years to come.
