ABOUT US

How nice of you to visit our site, we at speedcube.com do everything we can to create an easy and fun shopping experience for everyone from the time the order is placed to the time of delivery.

We have been around for several years now and are still growing.
Below is a small timeline showing our highlights each year.

2015

This is how it all started ... speedcube.co.uk was born! Purely from relaxation, hobby, interest in new things, this webshop was set up. Dave had absolutely no experience building an online store, but was curious and just started. This started with a webshop of only 20 different speedcubes. Well you have to start somewhere! A showcase cabinet measuring 40x28x180 cm was purchased and placed in the bedroom to neatly store the products. During this period, we sent out 1-2 packages per month and took them to a PostNL point ourselves. Then when an order was sold and needed to be shipped, we would just grab an old box of previously received products and put it in there....

Founded from a hobby, in an attic room,
And grown into a full-fledged webshop!

2015
2016
The expansion of the assortment proceeded at lightning speed. By now we had more than 100 different types of speedcubes! Now, of course, there were also many more orders and multiple orders were being sent out each week. Everything was still going manually. So we created the shipping labels ourselves and took the packages to a PostNL point every day after 5 p.m. Now was also the time to send the products in a nice new boxes.
2016
2017
Meanwhile, the ambition to create a comprehensive web shop was growing and so we started to expand. Not only with speedcubes, but also with other specialized toys. Thus, yoyos and brainteasers were added to the assortment. At that time, all the cabinets and areas where we could place stock were full of all the items from the web shop. This couldn't go on like this! Then plans were made to demolish the entire attic and have a dormer window 6 meters deep and 5 meters wide (30m2) installed to generate as much storage as possible this way. So the orders were now coming in daily and then we started automating the shipping process.
2017
2018
The moment was there - the dormer was installed! In this space, we placed all racks. A system was devised to place all items neatly, making everything easy to grab for orders. DHL's carrier now came by daily to pick up the orders. This was possible because the order volumes had now become large enough. This also allowed us to take another step in the right direction. In fact, a new webshop was built by a company, which was thus a lot more professional.
2018
2019
To expand our assortment and get new ideas, we went to the largest toy fair in Germany, called Spielwarenmesse. This is where we came in contact with modeling. Both in wood and metal. This had our interest right away, so we added this to the assortment right away. Meanwhile, even the attic had become too small as storage for the items, and in July we moved to a commercial space with more than 210m2. Because of this, we also decided to switch to PostNL's service.
2019
2020
As everyone knows, the whole world was affected by COVID-19. No one knew exactly what was going on and people were ordering an awful lot online! The web shops were actually flooded with orders. We, too, went all out this year and processed more than 25,000 orders. It became clear to us that the current way of storing goods and handling them was not future-proof.
2020
2021
We began by coming up with a structural solution to the storage and handling problem. After 6 months of consultation with PostNL, we found our partner in PostNL fulfillment. The solution? As of July 22, 2021, the entire inventory has been moved to an automated warehouse. This solved our biggest concerns (storage & handling) right away. We can now grow our webshop to its full potential! This also meant for us that we wanted to create another new web shop. It needed to be even more user-friendly, completely updated to today's times!
2021
2022
This resulted in giving us time in 2022 to address other elements for our web shop. Thus, we meet all the requirements of the Thuiswinkel Waarborg certificate and are allowed to display it. This is because it is very important to us that we radiate trust to our customers. Therefore, we have chosen to place Kiyoh's review system on our webshop. Here, customers can write their own review after they have made a purchase. For us, of course, the most important thing remains to look for the nicest products that fit our webshop. For example, we have added the "puzzles" category and sell unique wooden puzzles, among other things. You may also have come across us through social media channels. Indeed, this is where we have been actively working this year.
2022
2023
In 2023, we again made great strides to take the web shop to an even higher level. One of the highlights of the year was the expansion of the team. By hiring another enthusiastic new employee, we can provide even better service to its customers. Optimizing the procurement process was also high on the agenda. By investing in advanced systems and good cooperation with suppliers, we can always offer the latest products and good prices. You may have seen it, but we also started a Blog and a comprehensive FAQ page in 2023. This is where interesting articles and tips are shared about our articles. In addition, we have renewed our partnership with PostNL fulfillment for a whopping 3 years. This means that orders are still shipped quickly and reliably to customers. We value good logistics and fast delivery of orders. To emphasize the personal touch of speedcube.co.uk, we also decided to show the faces behind the company. Customers can now meet the team behind speedcube.co.uk and see who works passionately every day to provide the best service and products.
