Ugears Aero Wall Clock

The time has come! For years we have heard the same question over and over again from our loyal customers; “Can Ugears make a working clock, one that actually tells the correct time?” Your dream has also been our dream, our team of dedicated Ugears engineers and designers have worked hard to make this shared dream a reality. Finally, the wait is over. Ugears proudly presents the Aero Clock, a fully functioning DIY wall clock with pendulum.

This simple but elegant Ugears clock is powered by gravity from a weighted bag (you fill the bag with sand or salt). Lift the bag onto the pulleys to wind the clock. As the weight slowly drops, it spins a drive sprocket, which then spins an escape wheel. The clock is equipped with an adjustable weighted pendulum that is connected to the escapement wheel by the steady tick of the anchor mechanism. You adjust the ticking motion of the clock to the second by moving the upper and lower weight of the pendulum. The reducer also transfers rotation to an hour disc and a minute disc. One of the interesting features of our Aero Clock is that the time is not read with hands on a dial, but a fixed hand indicates the time on the slowly rotating, numbered hour and minute discs. Moreover, these discs rotate counterclockwise. Did you know that before standardization, some clocks moved clockwise and others counterclockwise? In the role of “cuckoo,” the Ugears Aero Clock features a model hot air balloon. The suspended balloon descends rapidly as the hour strikes and then slowly rises again during the next hour.

The Aero Clock is not just a mechanical 3D model of wood, or a beautiful showpiece. The Ugears clock is a real working clock that you build yourself, hang it up, wind it up and then watch the seconds, minutes and hours tick by. For anyone ready for a new challenge and willing to take risks. As you build the Aero Clock, a wooden wall clock with pendulum, you will learn the basics behind clockworks, how the stabilizing influence of a swinging pendulum works via a swinging anchor that locks and unlocks the gears one second at a time. The (slow) drop of a weight is regulated while driving both the “motor” and timekeeping.

The Aero Clock with pendulum by Ugears is a great puzzle. When you put together this DIY wooden clock model kit, you will experience the satisfaction of building, and not just any model, but a real functioning timepiece. Afterwards, you will have a beautiful object in your home.
